Karen Martinson Karen Martinson (Peterson) died January 5, 2025 at 67-years-old of a rare and aggressive cancer. She lived a wonderful life, and had no regrets. Her sister-in-law described Karen in a haiku: "Our selfless Karen / Laughs / Cares / Gives / Nurtures / Eats cake! / A dimpled treasure." Her daughters said she was "Pinterest before there was Pinterest." They additionally describe the love Karen and Bob shared as so perfect and real, as it was the kind you only read about in books-except theirs had more laughter, more travels, and definitely more beer. She is survived by her mother, Lee Peterson; her husband, Bob, of 38-years; daughter Lauren and son-in-law Randy Torres; daughter Lesley and son-in-law Kurtis Caldwell, and granddaughter Lizzie (1.5 years). She is also survived by her aunts, uncle-in-law, sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, and many nephews and nieces. Her father, Bob's parents, and the family golden retrievers pre-deceased her. She wore the title of Grandma like a badge of honor. One of her greatest joys was curling up with her granddaughter and reading. In addition to the wonderful memories she created with her family, Karen touched the lives of the community in more ways than she realized. Karen loved working with elementary school children as a substitute EA as well as being a Girl Scout leader. Karen and Bob often spent Sunday mornings volunteering at the animal shelter, where they could always be found with the cats-making sure they got plenty of love (and maybe a few extra treats). Per her wishes, there will be no services. We invite you to celebrate Karen's memory by embracing the joys of nature, cherishing moments with loved ones, and spending time with your four-legged friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in her honor. The next time you're enjoying a beer or single-malt scotch (Laphroaig was her favorite), raise a toast to our "KP": Prost! Slainte!
