Jacksonville International Airport debuted AI-powered persona holograms with the launch of a Proto hologram of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, according to a press release.
The hologram avatar of the mayor will provide greetings to passengers in a range of languages, including English, Spanish, French, German and Japanese, with the mayor able to update the spoken content via text at any time.
The hologram display unit features include the ability to add languages, to beam in holograms of other speakers for real-time interaction, and to serve as a touch screen and voice-activated kiosk for information, advertising, wayfinding and additional content.
The project was created by AnuVision Technologies, a Native-American minority-owned company specializing in AV integration and emerging technologies; the Proto unit was sponsored by JAXEPICS, the permitting arm of Jacksonville.
"It's incredibly exciting to debut this message at JAX, and just in time for the holidays," Deegan said in the release. "This continues the City of Jacksonville's commitment to investing in cutting-edge technology that can be deployed in a myriad of ways to both improve communication, and better the lives of our citizens."
"At AnuVision Technologies, we're passionate about bringing transformative technologies to our community," Summer Vyne, founder at AnuVision Technologies, said in the release. "The partnership with Proto allows us to create immersive experiences that elevate Jacksonville's profile as a forward-thinking city. Having Mayor Donna Deegan welcome visitors as a hologram is not just innovative -- it's a powerful way to connect with travelers on a global scale. We're proud to be part of this project and to showcase the incredible potential of holographic technology."
