Joseph Lee Woods

March 20, 1954 -- Dec. 10, 2024

In the still, quiet hours of Dec. 10, 2024, around 1:45 a.m., Joseph drew his last breath, peacefully and in his sleep. His joyful and courageous spirit was separated from life in the loving company of his two children, one holding his right hand, one holding his left, at UCSF Hospital in San Francisco, Calif., where he made his final stand, battling cancer-related health complications.

Joseph was born March 20, 1954, in Belleville, Ill. His parents were the late Abb and Gloria Woods, who settled in Fairfield, Calif. He was raised and lived in Solano County for most of his life. He attended Armijo and Sem Yeto high schools, was a brave and retired veteran of the U.S. Army Rangers. He retired from Chevron Research Facility in Richmond, Calif., as a high pressure lab technician after 25-plus years.

Joseph was a rock-solid family man, a loving and devoted father, a beloved and dependable friend to many. Known as a warm-hearted, jovial and good-natured man who was always ready to lend a hand and give to those in need. His family and friends knew that just the sound of his voice and cheerful spirit could easily light up even the darkest of rooms with laughter and good cheer.

Joseph is survived by his son, Jason; daughter, Kristen; son-in-law, Luis; and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Mar, Cedar and Liberty.

Memorial and funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, Calif.
